"My people, what have I done to you? or in what have I offended you? Answer me. What more should I have done, or did not do? I led you out of the land of Egypt, and you prepared a cross for me. I opened the Red Sea before you, and you opened my side with a lance. I gave you a royal sceptre, and you have give me a crown of thorns. With great power I lifted you up, and you have hung me on a cross. My people, what have I done to you, or in what have I offended you? Answer me. "
From the Reproaches of Good Friday
Today is Good Friday and I don't get the "good" part. I know that is is ultimately good that He died for our sins. But what a horrendous death. I might as well have hammered the nails in His precious hands and feet for my sins.
"We adore you, O Christ and we praise you. Because by your holy Cross You have redeemed the world."
from the wording of the Stations of the Cross

What a timely and beautiful post. You are so right I never got the good in Good Friday until I realized that without His death and resurrection there is no good in this life. For without it we would all remain in our sinful nature and head straight toward hell - eternally separated from the Father. But thanks be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ He loved us enough to go through literal hell on earth so we could have life everlasting. We are so blessed and more than conquerors. I love you sweet lady. Paula

Only cruel people will do that.
Animals like me won't which is why God loves us!
Happy Easter!
