What a difference a day makes

Japanese Magnolia Tree off my deck

Good morning, my sweet friend! Forgive me for being out of pocket and not visiting your blog but I have a good excuse.

Being a relatively healthy person, I suddenly fell ill in a movie theater. After asking someone to summon my husband (I was in a stall in the ladies) we made the very excruciating trip home. I just wanted to be in my bed. You know how that is.

Without going into the gruesome details I was told  by my GI doctor's nurse to go straight to the ER.
Fast forward.... I spent the last three days in the hospital. Diagnosis after CAT scan: colitis. After receiving excellent care, I am home, battle scarred (ha!) with punctures all over my arms but feeling great, thank God.

My reason for telling you all this, is that we never know when we are going to pass on.  I have learned; never to take anything for granted. Get right with God and your brothers and sisters.

I am sure, without a doubt, that prayer saved me. There  could have had a different outcome.

I was given excellent care by nurses, doctors and other care takers from many different countries. God was showing me, I think, that I needed to examine my heart. Do I only love those who are like me?

My perspective has definitely changed. We all need to be open to hearing what God is whispering in our ears. Did I convey this correctly? I am not as articulate as you are.

Thank you for visiting. It means a lot to me. Have a wonderful weekend!

Peace and love of Jesus be with you today and always!

I'm so happy to hear that you are on the mend. Oh yes, we need to examine our hearts in so many ways when it comes to others. Sometimes it isn't so easy.

For some reason, you are not showing up in my blog roll. I need to figure this out.

Best,
Bonnie

Hi Charlotte, Thank you for visiting Blackberry Lane. We lived in Acworth until last April when we moved to Gainesville. I grew up in Alpharetta.
I'm sorry to hear how sick you have been. I'm thankful to the Lord for those who gave you such special care. God bless you in the coming week.

You certainly articulated this very well. I am so sorry about your experience at the theatre, and glad to know the movie didn't cause it. I've seen some that made me feel sick. Sorry, bad humor.
Experiences like yours can easily cirrect our perspective and help us to see ourselves in a mirror all at once. Surprise! Thanks for reminding us that things happen quickly. Glad yours wasn't the last thing!
Let us know how you're progressing.

Oh Charlotte...how glad I am you're here and right with God. We never know and Dave made his peace with God on Monday and suddenly died on Saturday morning. It's the one thing that brings me peace.

Dear Charlotte, I know this all too well. I developed colitis almost 6 years ago now. Out of the blue, and there it was. It is pretty chronic, but I do have spans of time where you'd never know anything was wrong. Luckily, it's not the ulcerative variety, so I am grateful for that.

You take real good care of you, and I'm glad it was nothing more serious.

Charlotte, I am so sorry you fell ill and had to spend time in the hospital! Goodness. But I love what you took from that experience. I often ask myself the same question about loving and caring for only those in my immediate circle, or those like me, etc. I think your post is articulated wonderfully. Hope you are still feeling better!!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It was truly enlightening!

Oh my goodness, I'm glad you are ok! That must have been really scary. And I know what you mean about wanting to be at home in bed when you feel bad. It's the most comforting place there is. I hope you continue to get better!

Glad to read you are home and feeling better, Charlotte. You are so right that we never know what can happen. Several people we know have been diagnosed with colitis over the past year and also divaticulitis (spelling?). Both are painful and sorry you had to go through such as experience.

pain control or algiatry, is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. The typical pain management team includes medical practitioners, pharmacists, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, physician assistants, nurses. The team may also include other mental health specialists and massage therapists. Pain sometimes resolves promptly once the underlying trauma or pathology has healed, and is treated by one practitioner, with drugs such as analgesics and (occasionally) anxiolytics.

Medicine treats injuries and diseases to support and speed healing, and it treats distressing symptoms such as pain to relieve suffering during treatment, healing, and dying. When a painful injury or pathology is resistant to treatment and persists, when pain persists after the injury or pathology has healed, and when medical science cannot identify the cause of pain, the task of medicine is to relieve suffering.
