Buy American

This is my truck's rear window screen. Title is "War Bird"

Hello Ducky! Hope your week is off  to a good start. Mondays are not my favorite....oops...it is Tuesday! That is what happens when you are retired. You forget what day, month and season it is.

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know that I am a Patriot. I unabashedly love my country. And feel that we are losing some of the goodness of it. But, God is still in control and that's all I will say about that.

My New Year's resolution this year is to buy American. While a certain amount of importing and exporting can be a healthy thing for the economy, we have sent a lot of work overseas. There goes the "made in America".

Have you tried to buy anything at Target lately? I went for the express purpose of buying some birthday gifts for my daughter. When the manager of the store asked me if I needed help finding anything, I said that I was looking for items made in the USA, he just said "good luck" and strode off. After a while, I left the store with not one purchase.

We can bring back jobs to the USA and feel proud of our products again, one item at a time.
Yes, you have to take time to look. Online sites are helpful. Here are some:

Also, be sure and read the info on your canned goods and frozen fish. Did you know that a lot of the seafood sold frozen is from Vietnam and China. Not to disparage these countries but their methods of processing and feeding the fish is very different from our standards.

I must give credit to http://thefrogandpenguinn.blogspot.com/2014/02/its-about-time.html . Although this blog subject has been brewing in my mind for some time, it was Dorothy and Pat who wrote their blog post this morning about the American Flag and that now it is a law that only the USA can manufacture the real thing. But go on their blog and read it for yourself.

Thank you for your visit. I love that you are reading this!

Peace and love of Jesus be with you today and always!

I've seen video of the fish farming in Viet Nam...in filthy, sewage water. If it's not wild or from the U.s., I won't buy fish.

Hi Charlotte, good topic and thanks for the reference to our post about American made flags. The law was for the Dept of Defense which now must. Uy onky USA made flags. Unfortunately there is not a reauirement to do so for the rest of the country...yet.

Thank you for visiting with me today! I'm glad that Donna S. sent you my way! You have a lovely blog here, and I'm a new follower. Pleased to meet you!

We try to buy American when we can. It is getting very difficult in the grocery stores to buy American produce. And so many of our farmers are quitting the business! We were especially challenged to buy American products when we built our home. We were successful except for lighting fixtures (made in China). Even light bulbs are mostly made in China! It is so discouraging.

P.S. We buy our fish flash-frozen/vacuum-sealed & have it shipped air freight from the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. http://www.great-alaska-seafood.com This company runs specials frequently (get on their mailing list). It's more expensive than the grocery store, but it is exceptional quality.

One day I went to a local plant nursery that also sells Louisiana-related gifts. I wanted to get my daughter something FROM HERE. Imagine my surprise when every item I picked up in the store had Made In China printed on the bottom. Very disappointing. Love that image on your vehicle. Awesome! And I agree with every word of your post.
