Beyond Layers Homework

Hi Friends! I hope that your weekend went well and that you are off to a good start to the new week!

My prayers go out to all who are in or near the path of the hurricane/storm.  And that it would not be a repeat of Katrina.

Today's lesson at Kim Klasson's Beyond Layers is to take a quote using or pertaining to the word "life" and combine it with a photo. This is one that I had in my files from Smith Gilbert Gardens here in Kennesaw.

I have been neglectful of my lessons the last couple of weeks. But now that the weather is cooling down a bit , I will get out and take some new photos.

Peace and Love,

Day 28 One photo three ways

With Kim Klassen's textures "Coo Grunge" & "Framed"
Hi Darlin,

How are you today? Are you as hot as I am ? I can't go outside without working up a sweat and I am not running or doing heavy work here.

I haven't posted for awhile. Do you get that way sometimes, like you just get burned out?
Anyway, I am woefully behind in my Beyond Layers Class...supposed to be on Day 30 but I am just getting around to Day 28.

This challenge was to take one photo and present it in 3 different ways. Here are my other entries:

Thanks for looking! Hope you have a fab weekend, friend! Peace and love!

Brush making for Beyond Layers

Hi there! How are you doing today? Are you happy that the week is over and the weekend is here? I am! I have two cookouts we have been invited to; one on Saturday, one on Sunday. Yay! I don't have to cook!

The above photo is of my beloved, Jimmy. The assignment this week for Beyond Layers, is to learn how to make our own text brushes. It was really fun. Kim Klassen really knows how to simplify lessons so that they are easy to understand.

I am going to make a number of brushes soon and will make them available to you for your personal use. I hope  that I will have them completed in a couple of days.

Think of them as Photoshop stamps.

Peace and love,  XOXO

Beyond Layers Homework

My good friend Betty, purchased Kim Klassen's class, Beyond Layers, for me. I am thrilled and delighted to be in this year long course on learning how to better my photography.

For the Coreopsis in the bottle, I used KK Evolve, with Vivid Light at 40%, then brushed texture off the flowers and bottle. Next layer, Evolve 2, Soft Light at 48% and brushed over the flowers and bottle.

On the photo above, I used KK canvas love. Can't remember the blending mode. Will write it down next time. Then I used her Paper 4, set the blending mode to Soft Light at 24% opacity. Next layer, I added Paper 3, Soft Light at 48% opacity. On all three layers, I brushed off the textures at 86% opacity.

For this foxglove photo I started with KK texture, Awaken, blending mode was Screen at 35% opacity. Then brushed the petals with a soft black brush to remove the texture, 86% opacity. Next layer, I ran Awaken again, this time with Soft Light at 48% and brushed the texture off the flower. Last, I used KK Summer love in Overlay mode at 45% brushing off the flower again. Ended with a Coffee Shop vignette action.

May the peace, happiness and love of Jesus be with you today and always!

My Sunday Best

I added my own texture to this photo. It is called "Bread of Life". Email if you want the jpeg. I would be happy to share it.

Hope y'all had a wonderful Resurrection celebration! I was a very relaxing day at our house.
We attended the Vigil Mass on Saturday night.

Never did get to coloring my eggs in time!

Peace, love and joy to you this Easter week!

Texture Tuesday

Textured with Kim Klassen's "The ladder".

Hi, my sweet peeps! What are you doing today? I hope that you are having a good one so far.

I am undergoing what is called a pill cam scan....where electrodes are placed all around the abdomen. I swallowed a ginormous capsule that contains a mini camera. It is hooked up to a small computer and I have to walk around with it until 4:30 today.

Soooo, I am having fun here editing photos for some linky parties. The one above is textured with Kim Klassen's "poetic", "fall in love" and "silent night". Then I clicked on "content" on Photoshop Elements and chose this aged frame.

Here is the same photo with another frame from "content".

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and my husband is home doing my laundry. It doesn't get much better than that!

Blessings to you!
