Are dress codes passe?

At the risk of sounding old, which I am, I pose this to you: Has dressing in your best clothes to go to church just an outdated concept?

Yesterday, being Easter, Resurrection Sunday, is the holiest day of the liturgical year for Christians. Yet, you would think a lot of folks were dressing for the beach, showing up in shorts, tank tops and flip flops.

Love to see a nice white shirt and tie

When I was small, my mother would make sure that we each had an Easter outfit, complete with an Easter bonnet and white gloves. That tradition has gone with the wind. Pity.

This is how people used to dress for church

I found a sweet story about a church in Michigan here. It is wonderful that a lot of the black churches show their respect for God in their dressing up for Him on Sunday.
