A Walk in the Park

Good afternoon, my friend! I hope that you are having a fun and restful Saturday!

I am awaiting a ride with my neighbor next door to her daughter's house. She is giving a wedding shower for her brother and his fiance. So while I can, I wanted to show you a few phone photos taken while I was on my walk this week at Swift Cantrell Park in Kennesaw.

Please excuse the quality. I had a hard time seeing the phone as it was so bright out.
But cool with a breeze; perfect walking weather.

I think this is rag weed. So many people are allergic to it. But it is rather pretty, don't you think?

There are some nice shade trees here.

I can't remember what this is called. But is has pretty berries on it. May be poisonous.

Fading blossoms on a Chaste tree?

pretty daisy-like flowers.

Crab apple tree.

Pine needles.

The walking trail.

This is a random photo that I took with my phone in Costco. I have never seen a flower like this, have you?

Must run, Darlin! Have a wonderful weekend!

Peace and love of Jesus be with you today and always!

Planting Jalepenos

Shot with Katie's phone

My relationship with my daughter has had some rocky moments, especially in her teenage years. Since she is adopted we don't share any genetic similarities. And I am almost exactly 40 years older than her, which she has never let me forget. LOL  We don't really have a lot in common. I am more sedentary by nature, while she is an awesome athlete, sometimes running over 15 miles a day.  While I love to read; she has never been a reader.

So when I asked her to help me re-pot a root bound Meyer Lemon tree, I was surprised that she said yes.

We bought some potting soil at Lowe's, paid for it and on the way out, Katie noticed some jalapenos plants. She and her boyfriend love pickled jalapenos in almost everything except ice cream, so she bought a four pack.

We returned home with our goods and checked under the crawl space for some suitable pots for the jalapeno plants. It was sweet to see her excitement for something that she once considered so boring.

Lining the pot with coffee filters

Well she is not exactly into gardening yet. But there is hope that we will share love of growing things someday. It was a sweet moment for me. Did I say that our relationship has improved these last few years? :o)

Have a wonderful day, my friend!

Green, green everywhere but not a bloom in sight!

Now mind you, I am not really complaining. I love green. I started working on these photos from my yard
it dawned on me how different shades of green can be.

Like this bluish green succulent, so frosty and lush.

And how about this gardenia with its leathery dark green leaves. See that bud? I can't wait to smell these wonderful gardenia blooms. They are so fragrant with perfume. They were my favorite for prom corsages when I was younger.

And these heart shaped chartreuse green leaves. I don't know what this tree is but I love its color.

And how about this Sago Palm? Did you know that this is a kind of dinosaur plant? It is very resilient and is supposed to live for a long, long time. I have wanted one of these for a long time. I finally bought one.

Here is a sweet little plant that I left outside during a freeze. I thought it was dead but brought it inside during the winter just to see what would happen. Look at the cute little leaves poking out.

My potato vines for Yukon Gold.  I like to grow them in a pot so that when I can harvest I don't have to dig, I just turn the pot over onto a tarp and pick up the potatoes.

Last but not least, here are my baby Ranunculus plants. I didn't think that they would come up from the corms(?) that I bought online, but finally they appeared. I can't wait to see them flower. I will post them then.

Thanks, friends, for stopping by! See you later. Have a wonderful weekend!
